WHAT IS ACNE?

Acne is an inflammatory condition caused by clogged pores, leading to breakouts and redness. It can present as blackheads, whiteheads or inflamed blemishes.

It isn’t a hygiene issue and can affect teenagers and adults due to hormones, stress and barrier imbalance.

ACNE FAQs

Acne develops when excess oil, dead skin cells and bacteria accumulate within the pore, triggering inflammation. However, it is rarely caused by one single factor.

Hormonal fluctuations, stress, genetics, barrier disruption and inappropriate products can all influence breakouts.

In many cases, acne results from a combination of internal and external triggers.

We treat mild to moderate acne, including:

  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • Inflammatory breakouts
  • Hormonal acne around the jawline
  • Persistent congestion and uneven texture
  • Post-inflammatory redness and pigmentation

If acne is severe, cystic or medically complex, we may recommend working alongside your GP or dermatologist to ensure appropriate care.

Treatment plans are tailored following consultation and may include professional chemical peels, Dermalux LED therapy, targeted infusion treatments and personalised homecare.

The focus is on reducing inflammation, strengthening the skin barrier and preventing future breakouts.

While results vary depending on severity and underlying triggers, we typically aim to see visible improvement after approximately 6 weeks of following a personalised treatment plan and consistent homecare.
