The Cosmelan® treatment is a 6 month long protocol:

The process begins with an initial consultation, where your skincare professional assesses your skin, confirms your suitability, and provides a tailored treatment plan. To prepare, you’ll use a pre-treatment homecare kit for 4 weeks, which normalizes skin turnover and enhances the effectiveness of the Cosmelan 1 mask.

At your first in-clinic appointment, the Cosmelan 1 mask is applied. You’ll leave the clinic with the mask on and wash it off at home after 8-12 hours. Six days later, you’ll return for a review to ensure your skin is responding well and receive your Cosmelan 2 mask and homecare products, to be used daily for the next 6-8 weeks.

Your second follow-up takes place 6-8 weeks later to monitor progress and adjust the routine. A third check-in occurs 6-8 weeks after that, focusing on long-term maintenance and results. With ongoing care, including sunscreen and maintenance products, the Cosmelan process helps achieve a brighter, even complexion and reduces hyperpigmentation.

The Cosmelan peel is not painful during application. You may experience mild redness and warmth afterward, but these effects typically subside within a few days. Following this, peeling and increased sensitivity may occur, which can be effectively managed with the recommended homecare products.
